At the confluence of the Vindhya Plateau and the Aravalli Range, there lies a resting place for the Royal Bengal Tigers that were on the verge of extinction. They are the National Animal of India and their extinction would cause a fatal loss to them.
So, to encounter the danger and replete the scarcity, a National Park was created to provide an solace and a resting place for the tigers Thus the Ranthambore National Park came to existence. The land is watered by the two natural rivers like the Chambal and the Banas, apart from the six man-made lakes. Many perennial streams also pass through the entire National Park.
There are also two adjoining sanctuaries like the Kaila Devi Sanctuary and the Mansingh Sanctuary. Ranthambore has been designated as the Heritage site because of the presence of the Ranthambore Fort over there.
The age of the lake palaces and the ancient Chhatris, and the magnificent fort is over 1,000 years.
